The Modern Artist

  1. Suzanne Winter

Love it – the little bubble sleeves are great. This is the piece of art I was originally drawn to as well, but I didn't have time to whip up a dress for baby girl – it just translates so well to clothing! My favorite artist is Renoir, so my Easter dress for her is loosely inspired by one of his works.

Really an AWESOME job! I did a peplum this week too! Loved the photo shoot! 🙂 – Lauren (www.oddsofpink.blogspot.com)

This is perfect!! I love it! The bright green exposed zip makes this outfit for me, it's a fabulous touch! I like that you took it so literally. You did it so well! I'd definitely like to try and whip up something in a similar vein for my little girl.
Good luck with the vote, can't wait to see your week 2 entry xx
Gem, http://www.bugandsquish.blogspot.com

HOLY awesome girl! I love the peplum and collar-but that green zip-that just is awesome. You rocked it!

  7. Dawn

Love-love-love!!! The black trim, the zipper, the awesome apron — everything fits together so well! Very nicely done. 🙂

  8. Delia

What! I love this. I wish I had one in MY size. I agree…the leggings make this even more awesome. You did such an amazing job Shauna. You are definitely an all-star!!!

  9. Wendy West

Very cute love the fabric pattern.

  10. Sarah

I could not love this more! It's absolutely amazing. 😀

  11. Stef

LOVE this, Shauna!! The colors just jump out like a masterpiece and I love love the black contrast. Your daughter and her poses couldn't be cuter – that wink!!! Awesome job!!!!

That last picture is adorable! Great job Shauna, I love the way you interpreted the theme, it's so cute. I love the fit, too! Can't wait to see what else you have in store!

Oh….how cute is she!?? Such a little model. This came out great, I love that faux peter pan collar…I did think it was drawn on. So big and bold… What a sweet little memory of being a kid at an art museum and loving the modern art because you thought you could do it. So true… Lovely job, and the leggings are a really fantastic touch, so I'm glad they came into play.

I LOVE this so much, Shauna. So cool and creative. You are awesome.

  15. Gina

so cute!! I can't decide if my favorite detail are the bubble sleeves or the green zip.

  16. kristin

This is so cool, Shauna!! I love modern art too (my husband and i went to SF MOMA last summer and it was incredibly inspiring) and really love how you used just enough of the Mondrian blocks to add interest but it's not overdone. Love the leggings and her red moccs and the green zipper too! All awesome. Great work!

I love the tunic. My sister is an artist and she had a copy of this on her bedroom wall when we were kids.

  18. Deborah Devine

I just love the tunic, but what sealed the deal was the collar outline. That outline was so artsy and creative. Of course, the peplum was top notched too.
Deborah
sewmuchtogive.blogspot.com

I cant even believe how much I am in love with this dress! I love Mondrian and yours is my favorite of the PRAP all stars! The pairing with the yellow tights is just beyond perfect! I can't wait to see your tutorial. So glad I found you through the contest. Best of luck! You have a new follower :)

www.sewcari.com

This dress is seriously so incredibly cute, and I was drawn to just how it was so different but in a really cool way. This is truly like Project Runway for kids. Love love love. And it looks AMAZING with those tights and as a tunic. She looks like she'd be the cool kid walking the London galleries. Perfect.

Oh my word! This is the cutest little dress I have ever seen! Your daughter is so cute and it's refreshing to see parents teaching art through clothing! It's so darling with the little peter pan collar. Best!
