I was just thinking that I need to give my own 18 month old mullet girl a hair cut, but had no clue what to do! I found your blog b/c of the Abbey Dress, but ended up staying to browse. Thanks for sharing such great stuff!

My 3 YO cut her middle-of-the-back hair to her shoulder on one side, and I was worried that if I tried to cut it that it would make her look like a little boy. I followed your instructions, and she now has the cutest cut; it stacked great in the back and naturally curls towards her neck/face area. Thank you so much!!

Sorry but I am confused about the last steps. You said …
Do this the same way you did the first couple steps, including pulling the sides straight back.

When you pull the sides back you still angle cut it? Any photos? I am so visual

Okay we tried this last night with my lil girls hair & I think she has a wee bit more hair than your lil one. But, I managed & my scissors weren't sharp enough. It was free tho. LOl!

Great guide to cutting kids' hair at home! I own 3 kids hair salons in NYC, and parents are always asking me for at home trimming tips. I just blogged my guide to trimming bangs at home, check it out and hopefully it helps some moms out! http://www.cozyscutsforkids.com/blog/index.php/2011/11/how-to-trim-bangs-at-home/
-Cozy

Thanks! We needed to do something with my 2 year old's hair, but she would never sit for a stylist. I don't think it looks perfect (I was aiming at a moving target) but it certainly is better than what we had!

My daughter has a bob that we had professionally done. We are most likely going to go back there soon! However, she has serious knotting and sort of matting in the back. The front and sides are adorable and fine but the back mattes up. What should I do about that? And I'm trying to grow out her bangs. Any tips on how to get her to stay still long enough to pin back her hair?

I don't know if you ever checked out the post that I included your awesomeness on, but I realized after posting that I did not link back to you correctly. If you go there now you should see that you are linked up, baby! Thanks again for the great instructions and photos. You know I'm a visual learner so all the photos I can get, the better! 😉
