Beautiful results! I think I might try it with power mesh in the front for a more athletic but still feminine look. Thanks for sharing!

Love it so simple and looks great would love it for myself

Nylon chiffon would be a great option as it doesn’t fray and wouldn’t require hemming. Just lop it off!

I tried this awhile back to make nightgowns, and my daughter loooved it! Except I used tulle, which does not really work because the drape is stiff and gets all wonky over time. Thanks for this…chiffon!!!! Duh. 🙂 Also, I love the yellow!

This is so pretty and I like it much more than the original actually.
In fact, seeing your number makes me want the same for my girly-tomboy, the original would not have inspired me. Well done!

Thanks! I like it more than the original as well, mainly because I love the yellow. So perfect for a girly tomboy, a great mix of all the elements.

I love this! In fact, I’m planning to make one for my daughter tonight. I had a quick question, though. Did you sew the chiffon into the t-shirt side seams, or somehow manage to keep it loose from the side seams? I’m trying to figure out how that might work and can’t wrap my brain around it.

I did just sew it right into the side seams, and then since it’s longer than the undershirt I just hemmed the chiffon along the bottom. I didn’t hem the undershirt since it’s knit and won’t unravel but you can hem it just hem it before you sew the side seams. Hope that helps! I would love to see it when you are done!

This is really neat. Will make one for myself and daughter. Question: can this be done over a ready made t-shirt? Thanks

    1. Shauna

I would think so, you may want to unpick the seams when you add the chiffon, but you could sew it over the top if you wanted.

I made a similar top last spring. I used soft stretchy mesh instead of chiffon. I didn´t have to hem it, because it doesen´t fry 🙂

I prefer your version! Love the yellow!

Oh, my dear!!!! I can’t wait to sew this up. My stash is full of overlayable fabric. Hope to manage it. Maybe I manage to sew one for spring to come.
    Thanks as always!
