Did you happen to go to Nuttal’s? That was my guess based on your description. 🙂 I’ve just been there once WITH kids, so naturally I had no time to search through the piles…but without kids I think I could do some serious damage.

Yes! Totally go without kids! Although mine may have liked digging through the tables, it was easier for me to search without them 🙂 They had AMAZING stuff and all knits were 3 bucks a yard!

Great dress! LOVE that fabric!! I’ve got a Craft Gossip post scheduled for tomorrow morning that links to your tutorial:

I love the texture!! Could it be a double knit? Fabric shopping with friends and no kids sounds like a dream 🙂

My first thought was that it was a double knit, but it’s almost more like a neoprene, the front and back side are bonded together rather than knit together, it just doesn’t quite have the “rubbery” like feel of a neoprene. More like a bonded fleece. It’s really hard to explain, I wish I just had a label to read, but it’s really a cool fabric.

So nice, how would you suggest sizing this up? My daughter is in a 10 now and she would totally love this dress.

The best thing to do is to grab a tee shirt pattern and lengthen the bodice to a skirt, while also flaring out the edge a bit. You can use this free pattern as a guide of sorts since a 10 will be wider and longer, but the same basic shape as this. Hope that helps!

Would it be possible to have the pattern enlarged for size 8. Love the dress style and fabric very functional.

I would love to make a size 8 for my daughter as well:-)

The best thing to do is to grab a tee shirt pattern I have a few for sale in my shop (http://shwindesigns.bigcartel.com) and lengthen the bodice to a skirt, while also flaring out the edge a bit. You can use this free pattern as a guide of sorts since an 8 will be just a bit wider and longer, but close to this. Hope that helps!
