| We have a problem at our house. My kids have their own little playroom, but they still just HAVE to play in the living room. I had a rule before I had kids and that was NO toys in the living room. That was supposed to be the “adult” area of the room and I didn’t want a whole house over flowing with kids toys so it was always messy if someone stopped by. Well then I had kids and that rule went out the window. |

| So I got these red bins from Ikea that fit perfectly in the entertainment center. (also from Ikea so I am sure they were meant to fit ha ha) They worked perfect it was my first kid so he had only a handful of baby toys. |

| Then over 3 years and adding another baby the toys seemed to have multiplied and before I knew it each bin was full of toys and being that there were clear you could see all the clutter right through them. It was driving me nuts. Ikea has solid cupboards, and drawers but they are 20 bucks a piece and I did already have drawers so instead I re-faced them. It was cheap easy and I love the way they turned out. You could do the same thing with any drawer or storage bin even the fabric ones they sell all over the place. |

| Using foam board (cardboard would work great too just make sure it is somewhat thick or double layer it) I cut it out to the size of the drawer. Then a painted on a layer of mod podge to the front and smoothed on my choice of fabric. I wrapped the edge of the fabric around the back. Then add another layer of mod podge over the top to seal the whole thing. Let it dry. Then drill (I just used the screw and a screw driver not an actual drill) a whole in the middle of the board. |

| Then I took a smaller square of foam board and put it on the inside of the drawer with the screw going through the center of the drawer. (with these drawers that is easy since there is a whole in the middle already but with any other drawer make sure you line up the wholes so the one in the drawer matches the cover. |

| Then in keeping the project as cheap as possible I bought these wood knobs I think I got 6 for 2 dollars. I cut circles out of the fabric and using mod podge again I stuck the fabric to the knobs. You could also paint them if you wanted to. The fabric cover makes the knobs kind of disappear into the drawer which I like. |

| Tighten the screw but since it is foam board (or cardboard) don’t tighten it so much that it pokes through. |

| Then fill it back up with toys, or anything else you want to hide away |

| Close the drawer and the mess is gone. Now the kids can happily play in the living room and in 5 min (or less) all the toys can be thrown back in drawers and the living room returns to the adult space I always dreamed of. As a bonus the whole project costs less than one solid drawer from Ikea and it has a lot more personality.

LOVE IT! Walked to Joann's in 25Degree's to get Modpodge tonight. My husband cut me up some recycled foam core board, and tomorrow I will pick up handles. I have the similar IKEA cube shelf, and am using it to store fabric. Now to decide on what fabrics to cover the drawers with!
