Every year for the last several years we take our one last summer vacation, same place same time with the same people, the kids LOVE it, I love it, and it’s the best way to say goodbye to summer. The men go out golfing, the women swim, shop and relax. The kids swim to their hearts content. I wish it were longer than a week…
Jude is getting a little better at driving in the car for a “long time” anything over 20 min requires a discussion about how long the trip will be where we are going and plenty of activities to keep him occupied. He is not a sit still kind of guy. (and has not slept in the car since he was 3 months old)
The Olympics are over but these kids caught the “bug” they make new sports all the time and give points. This particular event was the animal high jump. Naturally jumping over lunch. Jude was a tough judge, he was going to kick the lion out.
Our kids are water drinkers, like serious water drinkers, in fact you better order abbey a water any time you go out to eat because she won’t like the juice. Jude on the other hand likes “special” drinks, he likes them so much he saves them. He drinks a few sips then collects them in the fridge for later savoring. He is a funny kid.
Lastly the most exciting part! (well for me ha) Our pear tree is finally ready to be picked! I LOVE fresh from the tree pears, and hate that they tease us all summer long. The kids got into the picking this year and got to get some of the high ones. we picked less than 1/8 of the tree and already have about 20 pounds! Time to start canning them! Maybe I will even share a recipe or two we have some favorites around here 🙂
