Square Neck Dress || Take 2 || Summer Collection

 Yesterday I shared a tutorial on how to draft and sew a square neck dress with flutter sleeves. I said I made a few and I wasn’t kidding, but this may be one of my favorites. I skipped the flutter sleeves on this one, but I love the sweet dear print with the dreamy white swiss dot.

 I made it a long tunic or short dress. She wears some bloomers underneath but I don’t like long dresses on her right now since she just trips over the front when she tries to stand up. Plus babies have cute little chubby legs so they should show them off.

 For the under arm on this one I did the bias binding so I thought I would show you how to do that.
I cut a small bias strip (2″ wide) You can also use pre packaged bias tape. I didn’t press the folds into the strip before I attached it but you can. Sew right sides together along the curve of the under arm.

 Then press the bias out flat, then you will be double folding it towards the inside. You will sew along the folded edge to secure which gives you a nice finish on the inside and out.

 I did the bias binding before sewing the bodice to the skirt, but you can do it before or after, you would just want to tuck the raw edges of the bias tape under so all the raw edges are enclosed.

 That’s all there is to it for another quick and easy summer dress.
