Spring into skirts Part V

Today is the last day of spring into skirts. Which you may have noticed a lack of women’s skirts… I don’t want you to think I have left out women’s skirts. I am making 6 skirts for bridesmaids in an upcoming wedding, I didn’t want to get burnt out making skirts before I make 6 more, so in the upcoming months there will be a few more skirts thrown in the mix. For now we will wrap up with the easiest skirt yet. Even easier than yesterday’s skirt if you can believe it. Comfortable and easy you will be cranking them out in no time.

Start with two rectangles (a front and back) The length you want the skirt to be and the width you want the skirt to be. The wider the rectangle the fuller the skirt. Then with right sides together sew the two sides together.

Next take some extra wide elastic. Create a loop that fits around the waist.

Next I turned under the bottom hem and at the same time I sewed a piece of eye lit trim around the bottom hem line.

Then gather or pleat the top and sew it to the elastic waistband.
You have two options sewing it to the waistband, you can stretch the elastic as you sew, or you can use a stretch stitch, which is my favorite stitch to use every time I sew with something that stretches since it allows the fabric to stretch even after sewn.

Then the skirt is done…

Unless you want to add some beadwork like a dandelion blowing in the wind perhaps…
It was really simple to make, I used some little plastic pearls that come in a jumbo bag for about 3 dollars (enough for several projects) They have a lot of shapes and sizes. So I started with a stem out of the oval ones, and then in a circular pattern I started with the largest size and worked my way out getting smaller and smaller. Then I made the floating seeds by putting them all along one side and having them float away on the other side.
