A little while back Katie (from the red kitchen) asked me if I would join in on her book tour. If you are familiar at all with Katie’s blog then you know everything she does is pretty amazing, so a book?? A whole entire book full of projects, done by her?? Yes please! Sign me up! The book arrived at my front door and I was giddy like a school girl. It’s beautiful!
The book is full of simple sewing projects. Which is great for a couple of reasons. First because they are all easy to make (straight lines nothing overly complicated) which is perfect for that friend or family member who really wants to learn how to sew (hint hint Christmas is just a month away) Second, they are fast projects that are cute, unique and current, which even a more advanced seamstress can get behind. A lot of the projects are great to be made with kids or for kids and I love that aspect as well.
For the review I decided to make the soft play camera. I knew my kids would love it since they love to play pretend and they love cameras 🙂 Also they are just small enough that they are perfect for their dolls to use when they get bored with them. (because their dolls simply MUST have cameras)
The only issue, I couldn’t make just one, or two even so naturally I had to make 3 (one for each little munchkin) It was kind of fun to pick out the little details for each kid, pink stripes and lace for Abbey, cute little polka dots for penny, and a manly one for Jude.
They helped me stuff them so it was fun to let them in on the project as well. And as the book says they are quick and easy to make. The book includes pattern pieces for the tricky parts and measurements for everything else so you get a perfect result every time.
Over all the cameras were a big hit (some may have even made their way to school for show and tell)
So the details since I know you are all dying to get your hands on this book.

The cameras are adorable (and so are your kiddos!). Thanks for sharing a great review of the book. I have a copy and I love it.
