I used to spend all my time making button up tops for my son. He did after all create a “collared shirt club” for a year in school and I LOVED that her did that. He moved on and is back to tee shirts and shorts. My daughter however has a new love of collared shirts. My favorite thing is adding little touches that make them even more feminine.

Adding lace to to collar, and the pockets was so easy and it adds such a nice element to the top. I used the Jet Button Up, and then simply added lace over the pocket (and did two pockets) Then I added lace to the collar.

To add the lace to the collar. I used a little wonder under (you could also use a little glue stick) just to hold the lace in place. I positioned it on one collar piece before sewing them together. Then I sewed the collar pieces together and trimmed away any remaining lace before turning them right side out.

For this particular version I also shortened the short sleeve a bit more so it was a little more feminine as well. We both love the way it turned out.
