I love making my own jewelry especially when I see how much I can save, these DIY Layered Shell Earrings are no exception, they were quick easy and inexpensive to make but make a big impact to style.
Supplies needed:
~Silver chain
~Earring hooks/studs
~Shell beads approx 10-15 they should come with metal hoops already attached; if not you will need to get them separately
~Needle nose pliers
All of these items you can purchase at Joanns, Michaels or Walmart.
STEP ONE: Determine the desired length of the earrings and make your chain that length. If you have never worked with pliers or chains it is really easy. To open a chain or metal loop simple pry the metal slightly apart, and squeeze with pliers to close. You don’t want to pry them apart too wide or when you close it you may loose the original shape.
STEP TWO: Using your pliers open the metal hoop on the shell bead and starting at the bottom add to chain. One shell per chain link. Once you get to the top you may see some open spots, add more shells until you have your look!
*Most shell beads are light weight but try on the earring periodically as you are adding shells to make sure the weight is comfortable*

This is so cute! I really like the idea and how it looks. Almost looks like you went and picked it right off the shelf from Claires or Ardenes! :)

-Julie
www.jewelsbyjewels.blogspot.com
