This month I am working with JoAnn Fabric and Crafts for another holiday project. The theme this month, naturally was Thanksgiving, more specifically #turkeytablescapes. Thanksgiving is a huge deal at our house, I take it very seriously and when my husband and I moved away from my family it meant that Thanksgiving was in my hands (or we would be going to a restaurant…for shame) However I honestly focus more on the food then I do about the table setting. I have made place settings in the past (sure) but this challenge was just the push I needed to think more about the whole table.
So to start I made the napkin rings, which also serve as the place settings this year. All you need is yarn, card stock, and a marker that can write on the card stock. I used black with a gold sharpie, a white crayon would have worked great too.
I used my silhouette machine to cut out these shapes but you could easily cut them by hand as well. You could use a hole punch to create the holes and cut any basic shape you want. Then write the names on them.
I used the ribbon to tie the cut outs around the napkins and silverware. Also for the record yes I use paper napkins on Thanksgiving, cloth napkins are great but who wants to do laundry? Also totally kid friendly 🙂
And there you have it quick and simple napkin rings. I just have to make about a dozen more before the big day 🙂
Now for the rest of the table (which looks so plain without all the yummy food and happy faces) …
I used a large roll of black craft paper for the table cloth, one because it’s paper which again means no laundry, and two it’s fun to draw on with chalk or white crayons 🙂 I used a dipping sauce bowl set to hold crayons, chalk and stickers for the kids (or young at heart) to use while they are waiting for their dinner, or waiting for their dinner to settle. I lined the table with the cinnamon scented pinecones which bring on the holiday spirit for sure.
So that’s our thanksgiving dinner table.
So a big thanks to Joann Fabric and Crafts for supplying all the things I needed to make my table extra special.
