First up is the Johnny B Good Hoodie. Why hoodie? The design all stated with the idea of having a hood instead of a collar, kind of a casual dress shirt. To keep things, cool and fresh there are the contrasting shoulder details (that add a little western flair without being totally cowboy) It’s a detail I have noticed popping up everywhere lately and I love it. The hood is lined, and allows for a pop of interest if you wanted. I used an amazing chambray for this top (links below) with linen details. If you know me you know that I love linen and chambray so this is pretty much my favorite combo ever. Jude has a very loud larger than life personality so I kind of love pairing him in muted colors and natural pallets. He never seems to mind although truth be told he tends to gravitate towards the glow in the dark green angry birds shirts he sees in the stores… it won’t be happening in this house.
While I love the casual cool look of the Johnny. I did decide it needed a collar option too so it can be the dressy cool Johnny as well. With long and short sleeve options and collar or hood options, as well as the option to skip the shoulder detail the Johnny really lends itself to a lot of style options. There are also included instructions for how to upcycle the top (like I did here) This saves you the sewing all those button holes, takes the worry out of pattern matching (for the most part) and most men’s dress shirts are made from the perfect fabric. This one is one of my favorites and Jude loved the orange running through it. I paired it with a 10 min tie (link below) and tucked it into his jeans to show off the One Little Belt (link below) Before you know it he is a dressed up little guy.
