Yesterday I shared the Leg Cozy. And today I am sharing a different take on it. The ruffled leg cozy. They both hold a different place in my heart but I may just love the ruffled ones better. Again the pattern is available if you want it. (although it is really easy you could go without)

or measure around the leg and then measure how tall you want the legging to be. Add a little wiggle room. That’s it.

For the ruffle effect I doubled the height of the pattern. Shown above is one folded and one unfolded. I also cut two leg pieces the pattern size out of felt (you know so it will be cozy)

Start by sewing a basting stitch down the two ends and the middle of the piece.

Then gather it so it is the height of the felt (or lining) piece.

Then pin the ruffled piece to the lining piece. Sew around the edge leaving a small opening to turn it right side out.

Turn it right side out and topstitch around the edge and down the middle.

Then sew buttons on one side and elastic loops on the other side. (elastic allows for stretch and therefore comfort, but you could do button holes if you wanted)

I also added a strip of felt to cover the elastic loops.

That way when the elastic is looped around the buttons you can’t see it.

Then put them on and you instantly made her cozy, and added a fun style element. (sorry I couldn’t get a better picture she was not too willing to sit still)
