For the ruffle effect I doubled the height of the pattern. Shown above is one folded and one unfolded. I also cut two leg pieces the pattern size out of felt (you know so it will be cozy) |
Start by sewing a basting stitch down the two ends and the middle of the piece. |
Then gather it so it is the height of the felt (or lining) piece. |
Then pin the ruffled piece to the lining piece. Sew around the edge leaving a small opening to turn it right side out. |
Turn it right side out and topstitch around the edge and down the middle. |
Then sew buttons on one side and elastic loops on the other side. (elastic allows for stretch and therefore comfort, but you could do button holes if you wanted) |
I also added a strip of felt to cover the elastic loops. |
That way when the elastic is looped around the buttons you can’t see it. |
Then put them on and you instantly made her cozy, and added a fun style element. (sorry I couldn’t get a better picture she was not too willing to sit still) Enjoy! |
