Thank you so much for sharing these instructions! I surfed the web far and wide to understand how to digitize my patterns but never found much…
Looking forward for the next post! 🙂

Yes! There really isn’t a lot of information out there, especially for doing it in photoshop but I have learned A LOT along the way just through trial and error, so hopefully I can help 🙂

    Someday I’ll create a pattern–until then I’m pinning this!

Great information. Thanks for sharing. I have a lot to learn in this department, but would love to do this. I don’t intend to sell patterns, but I have some that I have drawn out on paper for me that I either made for myself, or, usually, heavily modified from other patterns. I really like them and would love to keep them digitally where I can always find them and they wont get torn up or destroyed. So many times I have wanted to go back and make something that I did modificatiozns for years ago and I can’t find it. I am going to have to work on learning this.

this is great! I only have PS elements so I can’t do all this, but I did invest in an older version of Illustrator for my pattern making and it’s been SO great!!

i have spent a week trying to get this. I’m so disappointed I can’t figure it out. I have PS5 and cannot find how to not “fill in ” the area between the straight line and the curved part. At the beginning you said set fill to none. I do not have that on version 5……….and cannot for the life of me find how to change it. I am trying to make some nicer patterns for the baby gowns we make using wedding dresses.

    Hi,
I was wondering if you have encountered the following problem and have a fix:
When I copy/paste my jpegs into CS6, they are enormous and won’t stay letter sized.
    Thanks!

This is most likely due to the size of the jpeg you are copying and the size of your workspace. If you are placing a high resolution or large sized file on a smaller lower resolution workspace this will result in the pasted item being quite large. You can resize the jpeg or the workspace to fix this problem.
